Trip to Florida -- Day One

Welcome everyone to this blog.  I figured I'm going to try to take the time to write a few things, and let you following along with what I am doing.  There are some rules though that I will be following on this thing.  The biggest of them is that I'm not going to include anything really personal for the most part (IE: Dates, arguments, my sex life.. etc). It's just stuff that does not need to be aired out to the public, and I'm sure that those involved would not want things aired out either!

So, having said that, lets get started.

I'm sitting here at the Hilton Garden Inn in Charlotte, North Carolina. I've spent about 13 hours driving and am rather tired, not to mention stiff. I'm looking forward to laying down and passing out for the night.

The trip was rather uneventful actually. The US Border guards were their usual cheerful selves, and the traffic wasn't rather heavy.

I'm getting used to the fact that American money is less colourful, and smaller. As well, I'm really not used to holding one dollar bills. I'm figuring that I'm just going to use my Visa for most things, as it's a lot easier then constantly withdrawing money from the machines and such. As well, I think its actually cheaper!

We drove through NY, Ohio, WV, Virginia, and NC. I will admit, the mountains and scenery en route is rather nice. The roads however, become a little boring after a bit. There's only so many turns and such that one can deal with before you just start to shift into auto-pilot. As well, I wish all the states would agree on a normal speed limit.  It's always an entertaining surprised when you suddenly happen upon a change from 70mph to 60mph or something.

While the roads were boring, as night drew near, they became rather foggy. I'm surprised there weren't any accidents on those roads. I could barely see more then 10-15ft in front of my car, let alone anyone elses.

For all those who were hoping for pictures from this trip, sadly I forgot my cameras at home :-(. I'll try my best with my iPhone camera.

Well, I'm rather brain dead at the moment, so I'm going to crawl into bed, and sleep! Tomorrow we push on to Orlando.

  1. Long drive! Roads get tedious! That's what music is for. Go to a store, buy a point and shoot and return it . Yes, that's me telling you to do it!!! My bad! Or, just buy a cheap point and shoot as they always come in handy. Guessing we will be hearing from you next in Florida. Got a call last night and was told they're in the mid 90s. Still frozen pops here! Safe journey.
